SUMMARY: Price Quotes were received from two concrete companies for fabrication and delivery
of four (4) pre-stressed voided slab stringers for replacement of the Gorst Creek Bridge as specified
by City Engineering staff on April 27, 2009. Construction of the corresponding abutments will be
accomplis~d by City Force Account. FEMA has approved up to $33,273.01 for this project. The
engineer's estimate for the four pre-stressed voided slab stringers is $40,000.00, including sales tax.
The purchase of the bridge stringers is recommended to be awarded to Knife River from Harrisburg,
OR with a quote of$41,871.82 (including sales tax). Total Cost of the project, including Force
Account construction of the abutments, is $70,000.00.

FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): Funding is as follows: FEMA: $33,273.01; Water
Capital Fund: $40,000.00. The engineer's estimate for the entire project was $70,000.00 inCluding
tax.

RECOMMENDED MOTION: Move to purchase four pre-stressed voided slab stringers for
replacement of the Gorst Creek Bridge as specified by City Engineering staff, in the amount of
$41,871.82 (including sales tax) from Knife River and approve construction of the bridge abutments
by City Force Account to complete project at an estimated total cost of $70,000.00 including tax.
