SUMMARY: The Bremerton Municipal Court applied to the Office of Public Defense for a grant
and was awarded $15,000.00 for the proposed public defense improvement project.
This money is intended to be used for improvements including adding an attorney to lower public
defense caseloads, providing a defense attorney at first appearances, and adding investigator and
interpreter services, as proposed in the City's grant application.
A TT ACHMENTS: Letter of Acknowledgement
FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): The OPD funding is a revenue source for
$15,000.00 to be used directly for Public Defense in the City of Bremerton Municipal Court. These
monies will be fully expended as part ofthe 2009 Public Defense Contract. There are no matching
funds needed.
