SUMMARY: Pursuant to RCW 41.56, negotiations have concluded between representatives of the
City and the Teamsters resulting in the attached Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). These
negotiations have been discussed with Council in Executive Sessions. This CBA replaces the current
one that expired on December 31,2008. The new CBA is for a three (3) year term, beginning January
1,2009 through December 31,2011. It was ratified by the Teamsters' membership on February 24,
2009. Council approval is required to implement this agreement.

FISCAL IMP ACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): There are sufficient funds in the 2009 budget to
cover the cost of the proposed contract. The projected cost of implementing this CBA for all funds in
2009 is $602,606.

RECOMMENDED MOTION: Motion to approve the Collective Bargaining Agreement by and
between the City and Teamsters Local #589, January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2011, and
authorize the Mayor to finalize and execute the agreement with substantially the same terms and
conditions as presented.
