Separation Request for Risk Manager

SUMMARY: The City's Risk Manager has applied for the voluntary separation program
implemented by City Council under Ordinance No. 5068. The program requires that the position
vacated remain vacant for at least one year unless otherwise approved by City Council. The intent is
that the separation results in a quantified ongoing savings for at least one year. If approved the
voluntary separation proposal will result in a position vacancy. However, rather than leaving the
position vacant for one year, staff is proposing that the position of Risk Manager be reclassified as a
Risk Management Specialist and reassigned from Pay Band 16 to pay Band 12. Additionally, the
position would be moved to the Office of the City Attorney. The 'resulting ongoing savings from the
reclassification will be at least $24,748.56 annually.

FISCAL IMP ACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): The Risk Management Fund will realize an
annual savings of at least $24,748.56.
