The Puget Sound Partnership cites stormwater as the leading contributor to water quality pollution of urban waterways in the state. An illicit discharge is any discharge to a municipal separate stormwater sewer that is not composed entirely of stormwater. We detect and eliminate these discharges by monitoring stormwater outfall pipes during dry weather and inspecting commercial and government facilities to ensure proper waste disposal practices are being followed. This grant will pay for the Stormwater Utility to complete this work which is required to be performed by the City's stormwater permit.
