SUMMARY: The COPS UHP 2008 grant award allows the Police Department and City to hire one
full-time employee (sworn officer). The City receives one officer at 70 percent of one full-time
employee's costs. The City's cost share increases as the federal funding share decreases during the
grant budget years September 2008 to August 2011.

FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): Estimated total cost of implementation is
$244,617.00 of which the City's share would be $169,617.00 and the federal share would be
$75,000.00. There is currently no expectation of implementing this grant in either 2008 or 2009 due.
to budgetary constraints. Extensions are permitted for several years. Acceptance of the grant allows
for implementation for future budget years after 2009. g~
