SUMMARY: The City Attorney's Office 2008 budget for professional services (54110) was
calculated based on disbursement levels from prior years. However, recent litigation requiring outside
counsel has resulted in a need for additional funds in order to provide the City with necessary and
uniquely experienced outside counsel. This litigation includes labor arbitration and a significant
constitutiona11aw issue. Staff is requesting a budget adjustment in the amount of $75,000 to fund the
remaining anticipated attorneys' fees for 2008.
ATTACHMENTS: None.
FISCAL IMP ACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): Additional expenditure for the General Fund-
City Attorney's Office of $75,000 above the current budget expectations. The 2008 ending fund
balance will be used to fund this budget adjustment.
