Comprehensive Solid Waste Management

SUMMARY: State of Washington RCW 70.95 requires each local government jurisdiction to have an
approved Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan (CSWMP) in place. Kitsap County operates and
maintains the solid waste transfer station and disposal system for all local government agencies and has taken
the lead on comprehensive planning for solid waste for many years.
This ILA creates a partnership between Kitsap County and the incorporated cities (Bremerton, Port Orchard,
Poulsbo/Suquamish, Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribes) to develop a new 6-year comprehensive solid waste plan.
Once developed the plan will be submitted to each of the cities for adoption.
ATTACHMENTS:
ILA with Kitsap County for the new Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan
FISCAL IMP ACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): None. The cost to develop a new CSWMP is paid
for by the County out of tipping fees.
