RESOLUTION NO. 300 d-
A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of
Bremerton, Washington, detailing authorized expenditures of funds
received from the 2008 EMS Levy Ballot Measure.
WHEREAS, The City of Bremerton adopted Resolution No. 3059, which contains
a proposition to be submitted to the qualified voters ofthe district for approval or rejection of
additional property tax levies to fund emergency medical services; and
WHEREAS, if approved, the City of Bremerton will levy additional regular
property taxes in the amount of $.50 per $1000 of assessed property value for each of the years
2009-2014; and
WHEREAS, revenue collected by this levy may only be used for emergency
medical care or services and related costs; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to clarify and specify the specific uses for
the revenue collected by this levy, if any; NOW THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BREMERTON, WASHINGTON,
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Revenue collected from the property tax levy, if approved by the
voters, will be used to fund costs for personnel, training for such personnel, and necessary
equipment, supplies, vehicles and structures needed for the provision of emergency medical care
or servIces.
SECTION 2. The intent of the City Council of the City of Bremerton is that any
increase in revenue collected from the property tax levy, if approved by the voters, would not
replace current funding levels but would be used to supplement current funding levels, enhancing
the ability of the Bremerton Fire Department to provide emergency services.
SECTION 3. Severabilitv. If anyone or more sections, subsections, or
sentences of this Resolution are held to be unconstitutional or invalid, such decision shall not
affect the validity of the remaining portion of this Resolution and the same shall remain in full
force and effect.
SECTION 4. Effective Date. This Resolution shall take effect and be in force
immediately upon its passage.
