SUMMARY: Staff recommends approval of a professional services agreement in an amount not to
exceed $38,500 with Nyhus Communications LLC to promote and attract tourism to the Harborside
District, and the City of Bremerton in general, as a premier entertainment destination for people
throughout the Puget Sound region. The goal is to build public interest, excitement and attendance at
summer and fall events in Bremerton through a proactive public relations program. Consultant will
work in partnership with other area businesses and organizations to target the Seattle and Tacoma-area
markets as well as broaden general public awareness within the region for the purpose of increasing
attendance for the concerts, festivals, and various other summer and fall events held in Bremerton.
The lodging tax allocation committee recommended (and it was subsequently approved and adopted
by the City Council in the 2008 budget) that $38,572 be allocated and used in 2008 for the purposes
of contracting with a consultant to develop"and implement a marketing program for the City of
Bremerton.
ATTACHMENTS: Professional Services Agreement
FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): This professional services agreement has a "not to
exceed cost" of$38,500 and is fully budgeted for in the 2008 Civic Improvement Fund (lodging tax)
budget.

RECOMMENDED MOTION: Move to approve a professional services agreement, in an amount
not to exceed $38,500, with Nyhus Communications LLC for marketing & promotion of Bremerton
Harborside District events, and authorize the Mayor to finalize and execute the agreement in
substantially the same form as presented.
