SUMMARY: The City of Bremerton with the Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management and the County
Sheriff's Office applied for a COPS Technology grant from the US Department of Justice in June 2007. The grant was
awarded in August 2007 with Bremerton named as the lead agency. The total project is for $3,655,482.90; the federal
share is $2,741,612 with a local match of$913,871. The grant will fund a mobile data network that connects field users to
shared data systems. This includes law and justice, fire service, information technology, emergency management and 911
Center. CENCOM has committed funds for the local match and the Department of Emergency Management has agreed to
administer the grant for the City. An interlocal agreement with Kitsap County has been prepared to formalize those
commitments and agency responsibilities.
