SUMMARY: The purchase of the light fixtures ,wiring, mounting brackets and electrical component
enclosures will u.pgrade the amount of lighting at the Lions Park fields to meet the 20 foot candle
(outfield) national recommendation for nighttime play. A sole source purchase from Musco Lighting
is recommended an explanatory memo is attached. The new mounting brackets will insure the light
fixtures are safely attached to the poles and able to handle wind-loads. Current brackets were found to
be deficient during a September inspection by the city Electrical Division. This project is budgeted for
$85,000 in the 2008 Capital Facilities Plan. The improvements support the Park Department Softball .
which is a revenue producing activity and a source of tourism.

purchase of replacement sports field lighting for Lions Park and authorization for the mayor to
execute the agreement in substantially the sam~ form as presented.
