SUMMARY: The City and Seattle SMSA Limited Partnership d/b/a Verizon entered into a five year
lease agreement effective August 1, 2004 and expiring July 31, 2009. There was no provision in this
lease for any renewal terms similar to the other lease the City has with Seattle SMSA Limited. They
are requesting that Section 12 of the current lease be modified to read as stated on the attachment to
this Agenda Bill. This will allow both of theirs to read the same with regard to renewal terms. The
City has the right to negotiate new rental fees at the end of each five-year term. They currently pay
the City $993.04 per month with an additional $1404.77 per month paid to the City for co-locates on
their tower. Section 5 is also being amended per recommendation of the City Attorney to clarify the
initial term of the lease so as not to be confused with the renewal change.

of the lease with Seattle SMSA Limited Partnership d/b/a Verizon Wireless allowing for renewal of
two five (5) year terms and clarifying the initial term of the lease.
