RESOLUTION NO. '3033
A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of
Bremerton, Washington re-naming the new police headquarters
"The Art Morken Building."
WHEREAS, Art Morken dedicated 44 years to law enforcement in Bremerton and
Kitsap County; and
WHEREAS, he was responsible for instilling respect for law enforcement and
was devoted to the children of the community; and
WHEREAS, he is remembered by friends and colleagues as a "good cop," a
friend to the kids and was respected by all; and
WHEREAS, the City Council passed Resolution No. 2964 on June 15, 2005
naming the new police headquarters the "Art Morken Law Enforcement Center" because, at the
time, it was anticipated that both the court and the police station were going to be housed at the
same location; and
WHEREAS, City Council desires to re-name the Art Morken Law Enforcement
Center "The Art Morken Building"; NOW, THEREFORE,
TIlE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BREMERTON, WASHINGTON,
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The new police headquarters shall be re-named liThe Art Morken
Building" .
SECTION 2. Severability. If anyone or more sections, subsections, or
sentences of this Resolution are held to be unconstitutional or invalid, such decision shall not
affect the validity of the remaining portion of this Resolution and the same shall remain in full
force and effect.
SECTION 3. . Effective Date. This resolution shall take effect and be in force
immediately upon its passage.
