SUMMARY: On March 21, 2007 the City Council passed Ordinance 5002 approving annexation of
the "West Hills Island" using an abbreviated procedure to annex unincorporated islands. Annexations
by this method are subject to referendum for 45 days after passage if a petition is prepared and signed
by qualified electors in number equal to not less than ten percent of the votes cast in the last state
general election in the area to be annexed. A valid petition has been filed with the City Council. This
resolution provides for an election on the West Hills Island annexation to be held during the August
21, 2007 primary election.
