Bremerton Wash. Dec.4 1911
Regular meeting of the council of the city of Bremerton called to order by
Mayor F.A.Harlow,Preeent councilmen Srawford,Urban,Miles.Arnole,Buffington
Palmer and FOBS.' Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved.
Invitation from the League of Washington MUnicipalities aaking the officers ~
o~ the city to attend the meeting to be held in Seattle Dec.8 and 9 1911
Moved by Miles sec. by Crawford that the invitation be recieved and placed on
file. Carried. Fire light and water committee recomended that the light at
9th and Mc.Kenzie be moved from there to 9th and Burton.
Moved by Palmer sec. by Arnold that the recomendation be approved. Carried.
Fire Light and Water Comm. reported that the Light Compan~ objects to the
moving of lights unless they are paid for the work.
Building committee submitted paaDs of the new fire hall for the second ward.
Palmer urged that the matter be lai~ over untill after election.
Also urged that an alley be opened through from Pleasant Ave. to Highland Ave
back of the fite hall. Moved by jalmer sec. by Miles that the attye be inatr)
to correspond with the owner of the 'property in question with a view to
securing 14 feet for an alley to Highland Ave.and if no terms can be agreed
upon to begin condemnation proceedings at once. Caawford urged that the hall
be built 60 as to keep the f~re company together. Motion carried.
Arnold urged that a street be also put throug~~ from Pleasant Ave. to
Pacific at the Bame pm&nt. Arnold stated he had attented a meeting of the
fire company and'waa greatly pleased with the spirit shown and enthusiasm
manifested. and thought that the least the city could do was to put a decent
hall for the bOYB~
Mrs. Knutsen addressed the cpuncil and asked that the gutter infront of her
house be raised as all the water rune under her house. and that the alley ber
graded and guutered~ Jlloved by Arnold sec. by Palmer tllat the matter be refere
to the street and alley Committee and the city engineer. ~ with power
to act. Carried.Moved by Arnold sec. by Palmer that the matter of ,the fire
hall be laid over for one week. Carried.
Police Judge addressed council and urged that the city ordinances be revised
and printed in pamphlet form, so yhat the city officers could know their dut
ie6. Attorney urged that the work be done but advised that it be postponed un
till after election as in case of consolidation all the ordinances of both
cittea would have to be passed over again. Attorney submitted report of the
Public service Commission on the Pacfie Telephone Company.
Reading of report from the Police Judge showing reciept~l for the month of
Nov. $ 30?35) fees paid out $ 51.50, paid to city clerk $ 250.00, bal.on
hand $ 5.85. Reading of Clerks report showing reciepte for Nov. $ 262.70
Moved by Urban sec. by Miles to refer to tIle finance committee. Carried.

Jesse Spear, addressed council in re getting more land at the cemetary for the
G.A.R. plat. Movee by Crawford sec. by Miles that the matter be referred to
cemetary committee and the Supt. Carried ) .
Moved by Palmer sec. by Arnold that the ordinance providing for a l1encenae
on dogs be amended to read $3.00 for a male dog and $ 5.00 for a female dog.
Dicussion of the question. Motion carried.Referred to the ordinance committee
Application of J Jacobeon as inspector for aide walk taken up.
Moved by Palmer that the street and alley comm. appoint the inspector.
Moved by Miles sec. by Foss that the Engineer appointtMeinapectqr. Carried
Atty. reported that the whole election board elects the dlerks of the alee
tion. Atty. also repotted that the Braadway condemnation proceedings will
be ready for trial at the next jury term.
Moved by Crawford sec. by Miles that council Adjourn. Carried.
