Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved.
Reading of petition fro. I.Sheldon asking permission to move the Louvre sign
to the Washington Ave. entrance .
Moved by Arnold sec. by Urban that the request be granted. Carried
Clerk read communication from the Industrial Insurance Commission in regard
to payments due the state from contractors doing hazardous work for the city.
Referred to the city Attorney.
Reading of communication from the Public utilities Commdssion in re complaint
against rates charged by tIle Bremerton Water Co. Aleo referred to the atty.
Reading of communication fron L.C.Simkinia asking the Preve11ge of making the
detail plana of the proposed sewer system and of submitting bids for the'wor~
Moved and sec. that the communication be received and ordered filed. Carried
Reading of cooomlnication from l~ss Bunker asking that a telephone be put in
the Library. Moved by Arnold sec. by Crawford that the matter be referred to
the Fire Light and Water comm. Carried
Reading of commdnication from John Leuenberger asking that the council
furnish him a place to condUct a shoe shop.
Moved by Arnold sec. by Palmer that the matter be referred to the Commercial
6lub. Carried.Purchasing committee submitted bids for the printing of the
ballotts for the primary election, C.R.Gale $ 11.00; Searchiight $ 1?50l
Moved by Arnold sec. by Palmer that the contract be awarded to C.R.Gale.
Carried. Crawford stated that Mr. Iverson refused to act as judge of the
Primary election. Mr.O.Green appointed in his palce.
Palmer urged that steps be taken to secure the Ruffner tract on Pacific Ave.

Moved by Palmer sec. by Urban that the mayor appoint a committee of three
to confer with the commercial club in the matter.
Mr. Peters stated that the commercial club has been dicuBsingXI the project
,for Bom e time and urged that a plan be outlined to carry the matter before
the voters at the next election. Motion to appoint the committee Oarried.
Mayor appointed Palmer. Urban,and Miles.
la. Berkheimer again asked the council to aettme hBematter of the Elizabeth
street grade, ae,soon as possible.

Cgeif Watt stated that the fire marshall has not ordered a chimney top
, replaced where necessary at the Bohemian Bar and asked that the matter be
attented to at onec. ~ Clerk instructed to notify the ownenB to
repair the chimney. ~nol4Lsubmitted plan of the resurvey of the cemetary.

make the changes as outlined by the cemetary committee. Carried.,

Regular meeting of the council of the ciyy of Bremerton called to order by
Mayor F.A.Harlow. BraBent councilmen Urban,M11es.Arnold.BuffingtonjPalmer
FOBS and~ Crawford.Atty. Moore.Minutes of the previous meeting read
approved.Reading of communication from Admiral Cottman advising the city XIk
that all sewage west of Warren street now running through the Navy Yard sewe
must be deverted from the same in a reasonable time and that all future
sewer construction must be made with that end in view.
Moved by F08s sec. by Miles that the clerk be instructed to reply to ~
the same and state that plans to this effect have already been approved by
the city council. Carried. .
Fire Light and Water comm. reccommended that a phone extent ion be put in
the library.Moved by Foss sec. by Crawforoc the the Telephone Co. br requeet4
to put a extention on the phone in the city hall to the library. Carried.
p~\mer reported that he had met with the commercial club in regard to the
court house matter but that nothing definite had been done and asked for
more time. Same was granted.
Attorney reported that the papers for an appeal in the Brown case had been
forwared to the supreme court.Also sated that the Supreme couEt has decidedt
that a city can built a wharf at the end of a street. as he had stated was
his opnion in the spring.when the matter first came up.
Reading of report from the police Judge stating total receipts for the
month to beS 324.85. Dispursements $ 62.00 Paid to city clerk $260.00 bal.
on hand $2~85. Report referred to tlle tina.nce committee.
street and alley committee recca.ended that the grade at Elizabeth street
be fixed as follows; a cut of 1 1/2 foot. at Ralphstreet, a cut of 2 feet at
Evelin street and a fill of t~o feet half way between Evelin and Ninth stre~
