Minutes of the previuus meeting read and approved. Reading of communication XK from Thos, stevenson protesting in behalf ofJ.S.lrvine against granting of a pernit for the construction of a garage next to his property by Dr,J.P. Schutt. Reading of cOIIununication fron the county auditor stating tllat the assessed valuation of the city of Bremerton for the year 19l1--l9l2ie $781092 Ordered filed.Reading of comunication from John Crowley aeking that areeolut- ion be paesed prohibiting the sale or giving of any intoxicating li~ors to Frank C%owley and his wife Clara Crowley. Moved by Crawford see, by Miles that th e resolution be passed ae read.Carrid street and alley corrunittee reported that arrangements have been i~~de with Mr. ~ Kenyon to put Borne dirt in fifhh street. Fire light and water co~mittee asked for more time on the spark arrester at the city hand laundry. Granted. Bl~g, co~~. stated that the conwittee had not granted the permit for the gara gaI aeked for by Dr. Schutt as they wished the 'matter to come up before the council. Discussion of the advisability of granting the permit. Moved by Craford see, by Urban that the permit be granted the building to be construvted in accordance with the ordinances of the city. Carried. Palmer submitted are6~lution providing that the gas franchise shall not be transferred to an electric company oporating in the coity of Bremerton. Moved by Palmer sec. by Foss that the section be incorporat,ed in the franchie ordinance. Discussion of the question by br~an,Moore Randolph and others. Roll call crawford,no;Urban,no;Milee,nO;ArnOld,nO;Buffington,no;PalmerJaye Foss,aye. Motion lost. FOBS suggested that the city get a percentage of the gross receipts of the . company. Moved by Foss sec. by that the city get a*percentage of the gross receipts of the gas company. No Becond. Moved by Urban eec, byCrawford that the franchise ordinace be passed as read and amended, Mayor asked if any citizen had any thin~ to say in regard to the franchise. Mr. Buck thought the price rather high and asked if a charge is to be made for connecting with mains of the company. Bry~ thou~t the provision providing for the payment of ten dollore by ~en consumers in sparsely attted dietricte in oder to get gaB rather strong. Moved by Miles sec. by Foss that an a~ndment be inserted in the ordinance P providing that the gas mains be laid on the graded streets of the city in two years; a gr~ed street being defined as aBtreet that is ~raded and hae the gutters and side walk laid;the said mains to be laid at .the written request ~ of five bona fide conaume~e. Carried. The fallowing amendments were agreed to; that the ten dollars to be paid in order to get the maine in the outlying districts is to credited on gas to be used; that no charge is to be made for connecting with the mains of the comp any.
