Regular 'meeting of the council of the city 0 Bremerton called to oraer
by Mayor' F. A .Harlow., ,Pre sent, councilmen' Ha~~.M~ J Urban, Miles ,Arnold )Buffingtn
and Atty..Moore. Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved.
Reading, of commuhication from Geo. Volnagel protesting against the ~
vault on 1~ Kimballs property and asking that the same be ordered connected w
with the sewer. Moved by Urban sec. by Arnold that the matter be referred to
the health officer and ordered conneeted with the sewer. Carried.
Reading of protest against the paving by Hunter and Baily et al.and Itrs.
Bremer. Mr. 14allette asked that council take no notice of 'the protests as the
time for filing the same has expired..
Remarks on the question by l~. Harriaon,Schaffer,Rippy,Fetterman 'and others.
Crawford suggested that the matter be laid over until the sewer and salt wXXK
water mains are laid.Mr Daily also objected to the paving at this time.
Moved by Arnold sec. by Crawford thqt the protests be received and placed on
file. Carried. Mr. Harrison stated that in his opnion brick wuold make the
best paving.
Reading of petetion fron H,Valentine asking that his Pool license be traneI-'
ferred to J.W.Setters.
Moved by Buffington see byArnold that the transfer be granted. Carried. .
Reading of communication fron M.W.Kallog stating he had worked out a new
system of taxation that would save the tax payers about on~ third on all
pUblic expenditures. Clerk instructed to reply to the same and get more
information on'the matter.
street and alley committee instructed to see that the weeds in the streets ae
are cut.Buffington reported that the gutter on ninth street is to high.
The curb on the gutter being two inches higher than the side walk.
Mr. Me.Donald tl1.e contractor stated that tl1e gutter was put in according to
orders from 1~. Tunison the eng~neerand CounIIXcilman Palmer.
Moved by Urban sec. by Buffington that the matter be laid over one week.
Carried. Melzer reported side walk on Burwell and Fourth street in bad condit
tion. Moved by Buffington sec byMiles that the street. and alley committee
get the necceasary plank an~ repair the aide walk. Carried.
Cemetary cOmlnittee reported that the fence would be 6 feet from ithe graves wh'"
,when the street is widened, and reccomended that the new gate be set back 15 ,
feet from the present fence line. ~.So prdered. Billa presented. \

Buffington suggested that the plans for t~e trunk sewer on Park Ave. be
made by f~. Berry and OK by a sewer expert.
Moved by Arnold sec. by Crawford that the city Engineer be instructed to
make the plans for the trunk sewer on Park Ave. .Carried.
Mr. Brown asked idthe council haa decided on the large hydrants for tAe
bU6sinesB district, also that a prfile XX of the propsed paving be furnished
him for reference in relaing the water mains!
Moved,by Urban see, by Arnold that the matter of the large hydrants be referE
to the Fire light and watXer comraittee. Carried.
Moved by Arnold sec. by Urban that the city clerk notify the Seargh11ght to
correct statement made in the last issue in regard to the city engineer
having made an error in the work in Diatr. 47,the minutes showing that the
rebate was for work not done in the dtstrct. Carried.
Crawford stated that the croBsing made for the fire &ept. on Highlan~ Ave.
is being used by teamsters driving across the side walk.
Moved by Crawford sec. by Arnold that a sign be put.up prohibiting teams fDom
driving across the place under penalty. Carried.
