Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved. Reading of request from city treaBurer J.O.Boyle asking for leave of absence during July and August and requesting that E.J.Mc.Call be appointed as clerk to the treasurer; arrangment for the bond of I~. Me.Call having been made. Moved by Arnold sec. by Urban that,~herequest be granted, Carried. Arnold re*orted having carefully checket up the work in district 47 Braodaay and reccomended that Mr. Kenyon be allowed $ 84.00 for extras put in. Moved by Urban sec. by Crawford that the report be accepted. Carrmed ,street and alley co~~. reported having made up assessment roll of Impr. Dist 49 showing a total cost of the work to be $ 3.???07, cost per front foot j 1.58. Moved by Arnold sec. by Crawford that the assessment roll of Distr. 49 be received and placed on file and notice published calling for protests on the s~me. Carried. JAoved by J1'oss sec. by Crawford that the Hydrant be installed on the corner 6 of Mc.Kenzie and Bay View street. Uarried. Bldg. Co~m. submitted the plans for the lodge at the cemetary. Moved by Arnold sec. by Urban that the plans be approved and bids be advert! sed for . Discusapion of the plans . After eliminating a numbe r of items from the plans and specifications the s~~e were approved by the above motion being carried. . - , Bldg. Carom. also submitted plans for a jail building of concrete 25 by 45 and bids for the steel cells by the C.T .BarnUfll Co. as follows. - ten cella with steel bottom $ 1120.00 J without steel bottom $ 980.00 Mr. Benbenniek addressed the c~unci1 a~~~~rged that the jail be so placed as to form a basement for a sUltable c~t~the future. Plans were laid over one week.. Atty reported having had a blue print made of the prop%ed salt water mains Moved by Buffington Bec. by.- FOBS tp.at the Atty. Engineer and Clerk be instruct~d to make the necessary plans estimates and notices providing for the aewering of Pleasant Ave. from Mill street to the present sewer, and the aewering of Pacific Ave. from Mill street to Sixth street. Arnold reported that the lumber Company would trade ten feet from the north margin of Mill street and the end of Pacific Ave. north of Mill street for the two'lots needed to connect Mill street with Sheldon Blvd. , Palmer stated that he was against the proposed tra4e.Urban urged going ahead i.vith the condelnnation proceedings started" So ordered. W~. Me.Kay asked if the assessment on 7th street in Distr. 47 has been adjusted.' Matter fo the sea wall at the park was referred to the council as committee of the whole to meet at the park Wed. Eve. Committee on sewer on Front street recomended that a sewer 0' 12 inch pipe be put in on Washington Ave. from Front street to Pacific Ave. before paving Referred to the street and alley COJnm. Buffington stated i that the article in the Searcl1light in regard to lir. M~elze~ pay was 'misleading as the council O~K.the bill presented by Melzer for the full amount. 1~.
