Regular meeting, of the city council of the city of Bremerton Called to order
by J~yor F.A.Harlow present councilmen CrawfordJUrban,Miles,Arnold.Buff1ngtm
Pa&mer, Foss; Atty. Moore .
Minutes of the previous meeting read Xand approved.
Reading of petet"n of J.A.Graham at a1 asking that Burwell 8treet from
Washington Ave. to Pacific Ave. be paved. Ordered filed.
Reading of protest from T.W.Gorman et a1 protesting against the paving of
Second etreet and the alley between front and second.
Moved by Arnold sec. by Crawford that the comunication be recieved and filed
Carried.ReadinC of comunication from J.C.Foley asking permission to submit a
bid for the making of the specifications for the new jail to be built.
Ordered filed. Clerk submitted comunication fron the bonding compan~ aSking
for a copy of the plumbing BI ordinance.
Moved by Arnold sec. by Buffington that the clerk furnish 5 copies o~ the
ordinance. Carried.
la. A.C.Thompaon asked permission to put in a step in front of his place of
business on 9th. street as the grading makes a cut of two feet nine inches.
Referred to the street and alley committee.
Clerk instructed to notify F.M.Roberts,R.O.Qualheim and school Diet. 42 to m
clean the dirt from the side walk in front of their property.
Representative of Bitu11th1c Paving addressed the council on the matter of
paving and suggested that a committee be appionted to thoroughly investigate
th8 different makes of paving .
Moved by Palmer sec. by Urban that a committee of three councilmen and three
property owners be appointed to examine the different pavinglaid in the ~
different cities of the state and report to the council . Carried Mayor appoi
nted Buffington,Arnoldand Crawford from the council and N.Nelson,C.P.Kimball
and L.E.Mallette an this committee.
Mr. Gorman stated that the paving Co. getting the contract should put up
bond guaranteeing the paving for a certain number of yearsand agreeing to
keep the same in repair for that time.
Firat rea~ing of ordinance providing for the licencing of peddlers and
hawkers in the city of Bremerton.
Firat reading of ordinance providing for condemning and extending Mill stree
to Sheldon Blvd.
Purchasing committee reported having ordered Police Docket and that the
Cemetary rules are being printed.
Moved by Urban Bee. by Crawford that the committee order one white firemana
coat for the chief and 24 black ones for the department all coats to be
properly market. Carried.
Finance cownittee reported thatheretofore no interest on Improvement Warrants
had been paid but recommende that 1~. Bulette be allowed $ 25.00 interest.
~. Moved by Arnold sec by Palmer that Mr. Bulette be allowed $ 25.00
interest on his warrantee Carried.
Palmer reported that only part of the property on Warren street can be secura
for the eKtention of the street to the bay, and recomended that condemnatimn
proceedings be instituted.
COlllmi ttee on com!1D.lnica.tion to Aberdeen reported" that the same had been sent.
Atty. reported that a number of the comdemnation cases on Pacific Ave J
north of 6th street had been settled leaving only Caine, Fetterman and the
property represented by lir. Benbennick.
Health Officer stated that the barn on the lot next the city hall should be
declared a nuisance and ordered abated.
Moved by Buffington Sec. by Arnold that the stable on the lot next the city
hall be deolared a nuisance and the clerk instructed to notify the owner
to abate the same. Carried.
Mayor stated that the Bchool children would clean up the vacant lota the
first pleasant day, and asked that all prppertyowners assist when the time
comes. Matter o~ delegates to the Peninsular Development League taken up.
Moved by U Arnold sec. by Foss that l~ayor Harlow and ].Ifr. C.P.Kilnball be
elected as delegates to the penisular Development League metting to be held
in Port Angeles April 21 and 22 1911. Carried.
