COUNCIL SUMMARY
CONVEYANCE OF PROPERTY TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
History
The United States of America is planning for and constructing security improvements to
the Naval Station in conjunction with the Downtown Bremerton PedestrianlBTC Access
Improvement Project, the Naval Museum and Harborside Park. The project will
complement future improvements the City and WSDOT will construct along Pacific
Avenue and 1 sl Street. Included in the projects are new sidewalks, crosswalks, signals,
lighting and other surface improvements for pedestrian traffic.
As part of the improvements, the United States has requested a transfer of a portion of the
City property (that portion of the site lying westerly of the west margin of Pacific
Avenue, consisting of 3,550 square feet) that they previously conveyed to the City.
Fiscal
The decision was made to waive the requirement for compensation based on the
following:
. The City of Bremerton received this parcel as part of the conveyance of property
from the United States of America for the Naval Museum and Harborside Park.
As such, no City monies were expended to receive the property.
. Cooperation with United States of America in completing the security
improvements as well as aesthetic improvements to the downtown area and the
entrance to the main gate of the Naval Station.
