SUMMARY: The original building costs in the 2002 PubIi~' ~C:lfety Bond proje~t for the new Police building provide
little funding for storage capacity or equipment required for functional efficiency. Storage cabinets for Police equipment,
paper and document supplies for administrative business and items like clothing, chemical supplies for evidence
processing, and office supplies are furnishings not associated with building construction. Fifty-eight thousand dollars
($58,000.00) is needed towards equipment, storage closets and case-work furnishings, both stand alone cabinets/shelving
and built-in cabinets/shelving. These are currently unfunded requirements that are real needs for the Department. As the
building project nears completion and occupancy and use of the building starts, it has become apparent that this storage
and equipment is needed for the space to work properly for the Department.

FISCAL IMPACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): There are currently no budget funds for these expenditures.
A 2007 budget amendment is required to authorize the money to be spent as outlined. The Director of Financial Services
has preliminary financial results for 2006 that indicate a positive variance over the 2006 budget. Funds for this budget
amendment would come from the General Fund ending balance being higher than anticipated.
