Nick - Pr~sonfly, the VFD's have a DI-I-485 Communications Card installed. While fuuotional, the City desiras to have an Allan-Bradl~j D~vie~Net Communications Casd installed in lieu oftha DI-I-485. Rudy Vigllia, PE Proj~t Manager HDR Engln~mnll 425.450.6343 I Patdcia Pod - WB-3 PS 2002 Modifications - PLC/VFD Communications Page I [ From: "Vigilia, Rudy" <Rudy. Vigilia~hddnc.com> To: "Pat Coxon (Bremerton WWTP) (E-mail)" <pcoxon~ci.bremerton.wa.us>, "Frank Hater (Bremerton WWTP) (E-mail)" <ppod(~ci.bremerton.wa.us> Date: 4/22/03 7:23AM Subject: WB-3 PS 2002 Modifications - PLC/VFD Communications Based upon the City's desires to change from the specified DH-485 to DeviceNet for PLC/VFD communications, QCC (via Stan Palmer Construction) submitted a pdce quote of $2,650 (plus any wiring required by Deno Electdc and allowable mark-ups). The City requested HDR review this cost with QCC to determine if any credit (for required programming to make the DH-485 work) was accounted for. A reference was made to the Eastside TP where poling timers were added to increase the speed of the system. Based upon discussions with QCC, HDR discovered they built the Control Panel at the Eastside TP (programming by others). Unlike WB-3, the PLC at the Eastside TP communicates via DH+ and not DH-485. Also, on an intermittent basis whenever the TP is operating, the PLC at the Eastside TP only talks to 2 other PLC's (UVCP and HRCCP). The WB-3 PLC continually communicates to 5 VFD's and a PanelView Operator Interface with many more nodes. Because the Eastside TP uses DH+ and has less communication requirements, it is not considered "similar" to WB-3. As such, addition of poling timers to WB-3 PLC will not increase the speed of the system. Also, changing DH-485 to DH+ at WB-3 is not an option because the VFD's do not have a DH+ communication option. Therefore, HDR believes the $2,650 quotation from QCC to change from DH-485 to DeviceNet is reasonable. HDR awaits direction on how the City desires to proceed. Please advise. Please feel free to call me if you have any questions regarding this matter.
