WHERE.q$, the Department of Highways of the State of ',¥ashington aat~', as agent for
the United States Public Roa~s Administration, is desfrous of constructing Job No. L-
519, widening of Cambrian and Farragut Streets, Primary State Highway No. 21 through
part of the City of Bremerton, and ~s desirous of routing the traffic on said tm[~rovement
through sa~d City of Bremerton over and crossing certain intersecting streets and public
thoroughfares, and
WHEREAS, the De~oartment of Highways of the State of ~lashington, acting as agent for
the United States Public Roads Administration, is desirous of receiving Federal Fun~ts
for the improvement of Job No. L - 519, and
WHEREAS, the Public Roads Admf. nistration of the Federal Works Agency of the United
States of America will not participate in the construction of sa~.d Job ~o. I, - 5]9
until and unless the City of Bremerton will agree to refrain from permitting encroach-
manta upon the right of way of said above ment_~oned streets, and until and unless
the City of Bremerton will agree to refrain from passing ordinances or laws affecting
the free flow of traffic on said above ment'Ioned streets or that will give p~efer~,nce
to local routes which in+,ersect with said streets, other than b[f the erection or install-
atf_on of "slow" and/or "caution" signs or signals, or that will unreasonably hinder or
d¢].ay traffic on said above mentioned streets, and until and ~unless the C~ty of Brem-
erton will agree, by suitable ordinance, to adopt the grades of the improvement ss the
gra~os of the City streets that are tnvolvsd, and until and unless the tity of
to~ will agree to maint~in said ~mprovement within the corporate limits of the City
of ,Bremerton after the i~?~provement has been completed,
NO~.;,~ THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the City of Bremerton
that for and in consideration of the Department of Highways of th~ State of Washington
sa~d the Public Roads Adm!nistrat~fon of the Department of Agriculture of the United
States of America constructing Job No. L - 519, widening of Cambrian and Farragut
Streets, Primary State Highway No. ?1 and ro',~ting traffic on the same through the
of Bremerton over Primary State Highway No. ~1, and crossing other certain int~rsect.ing
Streets and public thoroughfares, it hereby agrees wi*/q the Department of Highways of
the State of Washington and the Public Roads Administration of the Federal ~orks Agency
of the United States of America that it will not, in the future, permit encroachments on
the right of way of the said above mentioned streets, nor will it pass any ord~_nances
or laws affecting the free flow of traffic on said above mentioned streets or that will
give preference to local routes which intersect with said streets, other than by the
erection or installation of "slow" and/or "caution" signs or signals, or that will slow
up, unreasonably hinder, or delay traffic on said above mentioned streets, and that it
will, by suitable ordinance, adopt the grades of the improvements as the grades of the
c~ty streets that are involved, protect the State of ¥~ashington Highway Department
against any and all claims for damages on account of the change of grades, and hereby
further agrees tc maintain said improvement within the corporate limits of the City of
Resolution no. 301 (cont)
Bremerton after this improvement has been completed.
PASSED by the Ofty Council of the City of Bremerton, signed by the Mayor and attested
by the City Clerk in authentication of such passage, this 19th day of May, 1943.
