~HEREAS, the Fire Chief of the City of Bremerton has requested
instructions from the City Commission of the City of Bremerton as to
whether or not the fire department should answer calls in cases of fires
in suburban areas outside the city limits of the City of Bremerton, and
the City Commission believes it would be an injustice to the taxpayers
and citizens of the City of ~remerton if the City of Bremerton were left
unprotected while its fire eeuipment and firemen were fighting fires
outside the city limits; and that in addition, such practice would be apt
to cause an increase in fire insurance rates within the City of Bremerton,
and the City Commission being fully advised in the premises, now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED that the Fire Chief and the fire department of the
City of Bre~erton are hereby instructed not to answer calls in cases of
fire in the suburban areas outside the city limits of the City of
Bremerton, unless such fires threaten to spread to structures inside the
city limits.
PASSED by the City Commission of the City of Bremerton, signed by the
Mayor, and attested by the City Clerk in authentication of such passage,
this 23rd day of March, 1940.
