Home My WebLink About036 RESOLUTION NO. 36 RESOLUTION declaring tent caterpillars (Malacosoma Americanum) to be a pest and public nuisance within the City of Bremerton, and providing for cooperation between the City of Bremerton and property owners for disinfection of infected trees, shrubs, vines and horticultural plants within the city limits of the City of Bremerton. BE IT ~ESOLVED by the City Commission of the City of Bremerton, as follows: Section 1. Tent caterpillars (Ealacosoma Americanum) are hereby declared to be a pest and public nuisance in the City of Bremerton, and it is hereby declared to be the duty of any person, firm or corporation, owning, leasing, renting, living upon or having in charge property within the City of Bremerton, upon which trees, shrubs, vines or other horticultural plants are growing, to disinfect such trees, shrubs, vines or other horticultural plants ~nd to destroy the tent catert~illars or their larvae thereon situated. Section 2. The sum of $150.00 for the year 1941 is hereby sp~ropriated by the City of Bremerton for the purpose of cooperating with the persons, firms or coroor~- tions, owning, leasing, renting, living upon, or having in charge property infected with the tent caterpillars, and the Commissioner of Finance of the City o£ ~remerton is hereby designated as the city official to have charge of the expenditure of said sum, the same to be expended under his direction and control; such city official shall advise the public press of the measures to be taken, and shall ~tte~pt to enlist the cooperation of all persons l~ving in the City of Bremerton in combating the tent caterpillar. Section 3. Be it further resolved by the City Commission of the City of Bremerton, that neighbors or other interested parties shall have the right to go upon untenanted or unoccupied real property where the trees, shrubs, vines or other horticultural plants are infected with the tent caterpillars, and disinfect the said plants without being guilty of a trespass.
