RESOLUTION NO. 918
W}~REAS, the primary aim of our Ax~s enemies is the total destruction of both
national and local self-government, and
WHEREAS, it is the duty of local governing bodies as it iS that of the nstion
to take every measure within their power to bring about the defeat of the enemies of
Democracy, ~d
WHEREAS, the financing of America's war effort ts vital to that effort's comolet~on
and success, and
~EAS, the war savings progrsm fs contributing to that object,ye and, at the
stone time, ts aiding in reducing the current tsx burdens which have been augmented by
the war, and
WHEREAS, a patriotic pledge campaign is to be inaugursted fn the City of Bremerton
from May 4th to Nay 10th that will give an opportunity for every citizen to part~ci-
pate In this vital program, therefore,
BE IT RESOLED: That we, the Co~ission of the City of Bremerton does hereby
co.end and indorse the c~paign and do urge upon all loyal citizens of Bremerton to
pledge regular and systematic purchases of defense bonds and stamps to the measure of
their ability.
