HomeMy WebLinkAbout661 BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Bremerton in regular session assembled that at a public election to be held in this city on the 4th day of December, 19~8, there shall be sub- mitted to the qualified voters of the city for their approval and ratification or rejection, an amendment to Section 6, Article II of the charter of the City of Bremerton, to read as follows: "Section 6. salaries: The annual salary of the mayor selected, as hereinafter set out, shall be the sum of five thousand four hundred ($$400.0©) dollars, and the salaries of the other two commissioners shall be the sum of four thousand eight hundred ($4800.00) dollars per year each. The clerk shall receive an annual salary of four thousand eight hundred ($4800.00) dollars. BE IT FURT~IER RES0~,VED that the City ~lerk shall cause the foregoing chsrter amendment to be published for at least thirty ~ays next preceding the date of election in the of?icial newspaper of the City of Bremerton. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the said amendment be submitted with ballot title prepared by the City Attorney as follows: Shall Section 6 of the charter of the city of Bremerton be m~ ended to provide an annual salary for the Mayor thereof of $5400.00 and an annual salary for the other two com- missioners smd city clerk thereof each $48oo.oo? For the proposed smendment ~ &gainst the proposed anendment ~ E~ery voter in said election who desires to vote in favor of such amendment shall place an "x" in the square opposite the words "For the proposed amendment" as hereinabove set forth. ~ery voter in said election who desires to vote against such amendment shall place an "x" in the square opposite the ~o rds "Against the proposed amendment" as hereinabove set forth. -1- BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted by the City Clerk to the County Superintendent of Elections and to the County ELection Board at least forty- five (45) days prior to the day of said election and that said County Superintendent of Elections and ELection Board be author- ized and directed to post and publish notice of said election and of the submitting of aaid ordinance for approval in the manner aud form provided b~ law. BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the city clerk be authorized to discontinue any publication of the ~uendment proposed herein snd that the County Superintendent of Elections be a~ thorized and directed to withdraw the amendment proposed herein from the municipal election to be held on the ~th day of December, 19~8 in the event that the charter amendment providing for a council-manager form of government heretofore proposed by a required number of the electorate be adopted by said city at the special election to be held on NOvember 2, 1948.
