Washington for the benefit of cities provides insufficient
funds, and~
~^~EREAS~ the City of Bremerton is unable to pay
its employees a livable wage snd to provide those services
imposed by law and demanded by its citizens, and,
WHEREAS, the tax basis for the benefit of cities
must be broadened, and
~HEREAS, it is the considered opinion of the City
of Bremerton that the only solution to the City's financial
problems is the imposition of a local sales tax~ now,therefore~
BE IT RESOLW~D by the City Council of the City of
Bremerton thst the Legislature of the State of Washington be
~nd~ is hereby r~quested~o enact into law a Bill providing
for the l~vy of a local ssles tax with a limit of two-thirds
(2/3) of one per cent (1~). Ssid tax to be imposed by the
State within the cities and towns of the State of Washington
and the proceeds of said tax be returned to the cities and
towns of the State of Washington.
