been answered by a £aithful servant, Sophia Bremer, and
WHEREAS, that call leaves a marked void for the many
who benefited by her years of service, and
WHEREAS, we are cognisant of the great part played in the
development of the area by Sophia Bremer who sought no public
acclaim or attentiou for herself,and
WHEREAS, knowing the ability, vision, and courage it took
to be left suddenly alone and yet to not only guide her child-
ren to be responsible adult citizens, but to also carry on to
fulfilment the work so ably started by her husband, Mr. William
Bremer, and
WHEREAS, being of full knowledge of the debt of the people
not only o~ Kitsap County and Bremerton but the entire North-
west area, owe to the founding family of our naval shipyard
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Bremert~n that the City of Bremerton, which shares their
illustrious name expresses its true feeling of gratitude and
recognition of loss making this Resolution a part of its off-
icial record and that copies of this Resolution be sent to her
beloved family.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of
Bremerton, signed by the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk
in authentication of such passage this 4th day of November, 1959.
