WHEREAS, The City of Bremerton believes that the economic
development of Kitsap County and the Olympic Peninsula will be
determined by the transportation facilities between it and the
metropolitan area of Seattle, and
WHEREAS, auto and passenger ferries cannot provide the flow
of traffic necessary for the development of this area, and
WHEREAS, there has been introduced in the Legislature of
the State of Washington, House Bill 589 and House Bill 678
authorizing the construction of a facility necessary for the
economic welfare of t~is area, and
~R~S, THE City of Bremerton first recommended to the
Legislature the authorization of such a project February 11,
1953 by Resolution No. 826 and reaffirmed its position by
Resolution No. 967 dated April 1~~, 1957,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Bremerton
that the Legislature of~ the State of Washington be and it is

authorizing the construction of the Cross-Sound Bridge Project.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Bremerton,
signed by the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk in authen-
tication of such passage this 27th day of February, 1959.
