WHEREAS there has been filed with the City Clerk a petition
requesting that an initiative ordinance providing for minimum pay
scale and longevity for members of the police and fire department
and repealing Ordinance No. 2203 and all other ordinances or parts
of ordinances in conflict be submitted to the qualified electors of
the City for their approval or rejection, and that a special election
be held for such purpose on November 6, 1962; and,
WHEREAS the City Clerk on the 12th day of September, 1962,
certified that said petition contains sufficient valid_signatures;and
WHEREAS RCW 29.13.040 provides that a city election held
on the day of any state primary or state general election shall be
conducted by the County Auditor, now
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BREMERTON, that a special election be held in said city under the
supervision and direction of the County Auditor on the 6th day of
November, 1962, at which time the following propositions shall be
submitted to the qualified electors of said city for their approval
or rejection.

Shall proposed Initiative ordinance filed with and certified
by the City Clerk on the 12th day of September, 1962, pro-
viding for the increase and establishment of salaries of the
several officers and employees of the fire departmer~ and
police department of the City of Bremerton to be not less
than as follows:

and further providing for longevity pay over and above
minimum salaries of $5.00 per month for 5 years service;
$10.00 per month for 10 years service and $15.00 per
month for 15 years service; $20.00 per month for 20 years
service, and repealing ordinance No. 2203 and all other
ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict therewith,
and providing that such proposed initiative ordinance
shall become effective, be adopted or rejected

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be instructed to
certify a copy of this resolution to the County Auditor.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Bremerton, signed
by the Mayor and attested by the Clerk in au~h=n-~ication of such
passage this 19th day of September, 1962.
