WHEREAS, CITY OF BR~ERTON has been an incorporated city of the
State of Washington from the 15th day of October, 1901 and a city of
the first class enacting its own Charter on the 19th day of October,
1942, and
WHEREAS, during its corporate existence the city has enacted many
h~dreds of ordinances and has amended and re-amended many such ordinance
and that there has accumulated over the period of its corporate exis-
tence such proliferation of ordinances and amendments thereto as to make
costly, inefficient and impractical the correct application of the
appropriate ordinance without undue and unnecessary expendit~es of time
and risks of error, and
WHEREAS, the Book Publishing Company of Seattle, Washington, has
specialized in the codifying of city ordinances and has wide experience
therein especially with reference to the Constitution and Laws of the
State of Washington and the services that said company renders are of
a unique and specialized nature requiring professional skills and codi-
fication for which professional services bids need not be requested and
for which negotiation is proper, now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk be and they are
hereby authorized and instructed to immediately negotiate the contract
with the Book Publishing Company for the codification of the Ordinances
of the City of Bremerton, the terms of the proposed agreement to be
sub~tted to the City Council for approval.
PASSED unanimously by the City Council of the City of Bremerton,
signed by the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk in authentication
