WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Bremerton and
the Civil Service Commission of the City of Bremerton were in
conflict as to the proper procedure to be followed in the appoint-
ment of an Assistant Fire Chief and,
WHEREAS, this conflict necessitated litigation
being commenced wherein both the Mayor, acting under his authority
as a duly elected officer of the City of Bremerton, and the Civil
Service Commission, acting under its authority, required legal
counsel and representation at the expense of the City, and,
WHEREAS, the City Attorneys Office was representing
the Mayor of the City of Bremerton and it was therefore necessary
to appoint John A. Bishop, Special Assistant City Attorney to
represent the Civil Service Commission of the City of Bremerton, which
services by the Special Assistant City Attorney were provided at the
reasonable fee of $835.00,
NOW, THEREFORE, be it hereby resolved by the City
Council of the City of Bremerton that in accordance with the provisions
of RCW 35.33.120, the sum of $835.00 is hereby appropriated from such
excess receipts that were received during~e year 1967 to the item
"special services" under maintainence and q~eration in the City
Attorney Department budget for the year 1967.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Bremerton,
signed by the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk in authentication
of such passage this 27th day of December, 1967.
