WHEREAS, Puget Sound is the closest United States Seaport to
Japan; and
~.REAS, Bremerton like Kure City enjeys the greatest ship-
building facility in its country,; and
~HEREAS, the City of Bremerton, Washington, USA, and Kure City,
Jarmm have so much in common; and
~'I/FAS, it is the desire of the people and officials of the
City of Bremerton to extend the hand of friendship to the people and of-
ficials of Kure City and to endeavor in every, way possible to bring
~eace and good will between the peoples and governments of our two great
nations and between all nations;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY CCIJNCIL OF THE, CITY OF BREM-
ERTON, THE. MAYOR CONCURRING:
That the City of Bremerton does hereby adc~t as a Sister City
the City of Kure, Japan, and does hereby extend to the Mayor, the City
Council, the official family and the people of Kure City, Jal~an, the
hand of friendship, and a~ree to support that friendshio in every way pos-
sible: and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk transmit a copy
of this resolution to the Mayor and City Council of'the City of Kure,
Japan.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Bre~erton, si~ned by
the Mayor and Commissioners, and attested by the City Clerk in authenti-
cation of such adoption this 9th day of April , 1969.
