A RESOLUTION of the City Council of the City of
Bremerton, Washington, authorizing the Public Works and
Utilities Department to preferentially use glass cullet, processed
from materials collected in Kitsap County that meet WSDOT
specifications for construction aggregate, as long as the glass culler
is used in appropriate construction applications, is readily available
and cost-competitive with natural aggregate materials
WHEREAS, the there is more glass being recycled than can be remanufactured
back into glass containers in the Puget Sound region; and
WD~P._EAS, to solve the problem of' oversupply the Clean Washington Cemer
researched and developed new uses for recycled glass cullet as construction aggregate; and
WHEREAS, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has
approved specifications for glass culler to be used for a variety of construction aggregate
applications; and
WHEREAS, RCW 42.19A.020 encourages local jurisdictions to set goals and
standards for buying products made from recycled materials; NOW THEREFORE,
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BREMERTON, WASHINGTON,
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION1. The City of Bremerton Public Works and Utilities Department
shall be authorized to preferentially use glass culler, processed from materials collected in Kitsap
County which meets WSDOT specifications for construction aggregate, as long as the glass
cullet is used in appropriate construction applications, readily available and cost-competitive
with natural aggregate materials.

SECTION2. The authorization set forth in Section ! of this Resolution shall be
extended to cover materials purchased for use by City forces as well as by persons or fi~ ms under
contract with the City of Bremerton.
SECTION3. Se*,erabilitv. If any one or more sections, subsections, or
sentences of this Resolution are held to be unconstitutional or invalid, such decision shall nol
affect the validity of the remaining portion of this Resolution and the same shall remain in Full
force and effect.
SECTION4. Effective Date. This Resolution shall take effect and be in force
immediately upon its passage.
