OLYMPIC COLLEGE
APPLICATION FOR SATELLITE PARKING FACILITY SPECIAL USE PERMIT
(SUP01-0038)
WHEREAS, Olympic College has presented an application for a Special Use Permit to
construct a Satellite Parking Area on residential properties, owned by Olympic College, on the
west side of Lincoln Avenue, and north of 13® Street, into a 16 space sudace parking lot to fulfill
off-street parking requirements for the Olympic College Physical Plant Building to be
constructed east of and across Lincoln Avenue.
WHEREAS, the Bremerton Planning Commission, following the public hearing on May 15,
2001, voted unanimously to recommend that the Special Use Permit application presented by
Olympic College for a Satellite Parking facility, subject to the following conditions of approval, be
forwarded to the City Council for approval; and
1. The parking facility will be utilized by staff only during normal school day hours and
will be open for both student and staff parking use during evening and weekend
school hours.
2. Lighting will be designed to illuminate the parking area while preventing the direct
illumination of adjacent properties.
3. Pursuant to the landscaping requirements of BMC 21.02.610, the satellite parking
area will be screened from the view of contiguous residential properties by a six-
foot (6') solid wood fence with the smooth side of the fence facing the adjoining
residential properties.
WHEREAS, the City Council conducted a public hearing on July 11, 2001, during which
it received oral and written comments pertaining to the Special Use Permit application;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council concurs with the Bremerton
Planning Commission's findings in support of the Special Use Permit application (SUP01-0038)
and affirms that the proposed use does meet the necessary tests and criteria required for
approval of a Special Use Permit;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Bremerton City Council does hereby approve the
Olympic College Special Use Permit application SUP01-0038.
