A RESOLUTION re-naming the Bremerton Municipal Swimming Pool
"Glenn Jarstad Aquatic Center".
WHEREAS, Glenn Jarstad was the Mayor of the City of Bremerton from 1964 to
1981 during which time numerous significant improvements and acquisitions were mide to
the Bremerton Parks & Recreation system; and
WHEREAS, the Bremerton Municipal Swimming Pool was constructed in 1979
during Mayor Jarstad's term of office and through his perseverance and significant effort;
and
WHEREAS, Glenn Jarstad continues to actively support the City of Bremerton,
especially the parks and recreation programs; and
WHEREAS, on February 27, 1996, after considering the letters and petition as
well as former and current staff support, the Bremerton Parks & Recreation Commission
voted unanimously to recommend to City Council naming the Bremerton Municipal
Swimming Pool, located in EastPark, "Glenn Jarstad Aquatic Center" in recognition of
his contribution to the building of this facility as well as other achievements during his
term of office, and his continuing support of the City of Bremerton and its parks and
recreation programs; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Bremerton:
That the Bremerton Municipal Swimming Pool be re-named "Glenn Jarstad
Aquatic Center".
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Bremerton this 20th
of March,1996.
