A RESOLUTION authorizing the permanent closure of the eastern end of Sundown
Drive as an outlet to Marine Drive.
WHEREAS, the connection of Sundown Drive to Marine Drive is located within the
City limits of Bremerton; and
WHEREAS, the Engineer Department is finalizing the design for Kitsap Way-
Marine Drive to 11th Street project; and
WHEREAS, said project requires that the Marine Drive/Adele intersection with
Kitsap Way be realigned to the east; and
WHEREAS, the connection of Sundown Drive to Marine Drive is very close to the
Kitsap Way intersection and that the connection increases congestion and creates a danger
to vehicles and pedestrians; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to RCW 35.22.280(7), the City of Bremerton has the authority
to lay out, alter, improve, regulate and control the use of City streets; and
WHEREAS, the closure of the eastern end of Sundown Drive as an outlet to Marine
Drive is reasonable in light of the engineering project and the dangers imposed to
pedestrians and vehicles by the connection of Sundown Drive to Marine Drive; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Bremerton:
That the Bremerton City Council approves the closure of the east end of Sundown
Drive, at Marine Drive, to vehicular traffic of all classes.
