BREMERTON CITY COUNCIL
A RESOLUTION Regarding the approval of the Master Urban Tree Plan as required in
the Municipal Tree Ordinance (4553) of the Bremerton Municipal Code 13.10.070.
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the City of Bremerton to regulate and control planting,
removal, maintenance and protection of trees and shrubs on public areas of the City to
eliminate and guard against dangerous conditions which may result in injury to persons
using public areas of the City; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the City of Bremerton to promote and enhance the
beauty of the City; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the City of Bremerton to prevent damage to any
overhead or underground utilities, street, sidewalk or other public property; and
W!itEREAS, it is the policy of the City of Bremerton to protect trees and shrubs
located in public areas from undesirable and unsafe planting, removal and maintenant.e,,
practices and the guard all trees against shrubs on public areas against the spread of
disease and pests; and
WHEREAS, the City of Bremerton considers it in the best public interest to increase'
public awareness of tree benefits and proper planting and maintenance practices through
education;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by .City Council of the City of Bremerton,
1. That the Master Urban Tree Plan has an inventory of existing trees by location,:
species, size (diameter), condition, work needs, damage, trunk damage, utility line
and site.
2. That Master Urban Tree Plan identifies the current conditions of the trees.
3. That Master Urban Tree Plan identifies the work needs for the trees regarding
pruning, structure, clearance and removal.
4. That the Master Urban Tree Plan idemifies damage to curbs and sidewalks.
5. That the Master Urban Tree Plan identifies future planting sites, provides
recommended maintenance plan and provides recommended species for planting.
