This Resolution repeals Resolution No. 2056.
WHEREAS, the residents of the City of Bremerton have been longtime
users of the Washington State Ferry System; and
WHEREAS, Bremerton residents, as well as Kitsap County residents
in general, are the predominant users of the ferry system; and
WHEREAS, the City of Bremerton ferry terminal has long been in
need of replacement; and
WHEREAS, a new ferry terminal would enhance the downtown Bremerton
area and be compatible with its waterfront comprehensive plan; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Bremerton would welcome
a new ferry terminal in downtown Bremerton at its present location; and
WHEREAS, the City Council and residents of Bremerton would welcome
a reasonable mix of rapid passenger only and vehicular ferry service;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BREMERTON that full support and encouragement is hereby given to the Washington
State Department of Transportation and the Legislature of the State of Washington
to fund the construction of a new ferry terminal in downtown Bremerton at Its
present location and take the necessary action to initiate a reasonable mix
of rapid passenger only and vehicular ferry service.
PASSED by tbe City Council of the City of Bremerton this
24 day of April, 1985.
