A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Bremerton, Nayor
Concurring, requesting that the Washington State Legislature and
The Governor of the State of Washington take action to allow
cities to publish "invitation for bids" in a trade journal or
similar publication instead of the official publication of the
City.
WHEREAS, The City of Bremerton desires to advertise and promote
fair competion for the goods and services it procures for the
benefit of its Citizens;and,
WHEREAS, The City of Bremerton strives to accomplish such
competitive activities and,
WHEREAS, The City of Bremerton believes that the public interest
would best be served by amending the law to provide relief to
city budgets at a time when revenue sharing and other financial
aid to cities is being greatly reduced;
THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED THAT LEGISLATURE IS URGED TO:
1. Chapter 469, Laws of Washington 1985 (SB 3800), Section
24, be amended to allow cities to to publish =invitation for
bids" in a trade journal instead of the official newspaper or
publication of the city.
2. Copies of this resolution are to be furnished to the
Governor of the State of Washington, the Washington State
Senators and Representatives representing Citizens of the City of
Bremerton and the Members of the Governmental Operations
Committee of the Washington State Senate and the Local Government
Committee of the Washington State House of Representatives.
