A RESOLUTION authorizing a cooperative effort with
the Port of Bremerton for the rehabilitation,
expansion, and maintenance of the City of Bremerton's
Evergreen Park Boat Launch.
WHEREAS, the City of Bremerton and Port of Bremerton in
their effort to coordinate development of select waterfront
recreational improvements in the City of Bremerton, have
identified improvements to park and boat launch facilities at the
City of Bremerton's Evergreen Park on the Port Washington Narrows
as a project which will advance community recreational goals; and
WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Marine Recreation Land
Act, State and Federal funding assistance is available to aide in
financing the cost of local marine recreational facilities
through the Washington State Interagency Committee for Outdoor
Recreation ( IAC ); and
WHEREAS, the Port of Bremerton has agreed to provide the
local share of funding for the engineering, administration, and
construction or improvements to the Evergreen Park boat launch
ramp if IAC funding assistance is obtained; and
WHEREAS, the City of Bremerton has title and control in the
park lands proposed for said improvements; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BREMERTON CITY COUNCIL:
1. The City of Bremerton fully endorses and supports the
application by the Port of Bremerton to the State Interagency
Committee for Outdoor Recreation for the boat launch improvements
at the City's Evergreen Park.
2. The portion of Evergreen Park lands involved in the
proposed recreation and boat launch improvement project are now
and will continue to be set aside for recreational purposes for
the rehabilitation and expansion of the boat launch facility by
the Port of Bremerton.
3. The City of Bremerton agrees to provide funding for
maintenance for the improvements following completion of
construction after taking into account maintenance funding
available through the IAC or contribution from the Port of
Bremerton under an interlocal maintenance agreement.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Bremerton this
30th day of September, 1987.
