A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BREMERTON, WASHINGTON, REQUESTING GOVERNOR BOOTH
GARDNER CALL FOR AN IMMEDIATE SPECIAL SESSION OF THE
WASHINGTON STATE LEGISLATURE TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR
NON-INTERRUPTED EXPRESS FERRY SERVICE.
WHEREAS The Bremerton - Seattle Express Ferry have
become a vital commuter service for many people in a
wide area from Gig Harbor to Bremerton and north to

commuters to leave their vehicles parked at home or
near the ferry terminal in Bremerton;
WHEREAS, the loss of "walk-on" service will severely
affect all those people who rely on the improved
frequency of ferry runs between Bremerton and Seattle;
WHEREAS, improved ferry service will create a further
incentive to commute without a vehicle and to use
public transportation in Seattle;
WHEREAS, improved ferry service can have a positive
long term effect on the congested traffic in the
Central Seattle area by encouraging people to live in
areas that provide for commuting by ferry;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Bremerton City
Council respectfully requests THE HONORABLE BOOTH
GARDNER, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON to call an
immediate Special Session of the Washington State
Legislature to provide funding for non-interrupted
