A RESOLUTION to pass a new cable television
franchise ordinance.
WHEREAS, Several cable television companies have shown
an interest in the City of Bremerton's adoption of an ordinance
regulating cable television within the City, and
WHEREAS, the City of Bremerton recognizes the
importance of cable television in this community and the impor-
tance of regulation of such operations when city regulation is
not preempted by the Federal Communications Commission, therefore,
be it now
RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BREMERTON
that this City Council intends to and shall pass and approve
an ordinance regulating the operation of cable television companies
within the City of Bremerton to an extent that shall not be
preempted by Federal Communications Commission regulations or
any other federal or state regulation of such cable television
companies. Be it further
RESOLVED that this City Council intends to and shall
extend an offer of a non-exclusive agreement to Nationwide
Cablevision, Inc., which already operates in the City of Bremerton.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BREMERTON, signed by the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk
in authentication of such passage this 11th day of December, 1974.
