A RESOLUTION Of the City of Bremerton,
Washington, providing for the submission
to the qualified electors of the City at
a special election to be held on May 17,
1977, of an initiative amending City of
Bremerton Ordinance 1792, the City Zoning
Ordinance, as amended by Ordinance 3210,
declaring an emergency, and amending the
ballot title.
WHEREAS, a proposed ordinance submitted by petition, signed by
registered voters equal in number to at least twenty-five percentum of the
last preceding vote cast for all candicates for Mayor, has been filed with
the City Clerk as provided for in the Charter of the City of Bremerton, and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk has verified the sufficiency of the signa-
tures thereto and found them sufficient, and so reported to the City Council,
and
WHEREAS, the City Council has failed within thirty days to take
final action on said initiative petition, and the City Charter calling for
the same to then be submitted to the qualified electors for their approval
or rejection under a ballot title prepared therefor by the City Attorney,
the City Attorney having prepared the same, and
WHEREAS, by prior resolution the City Council has submitted a
ballot title to the County Auditor, and the wording of that ballot title
having been objected to by certain proponents of the said initiative proposition,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF BREMERTON:
That it is hereby found and declared that an emergency exists
requiring the submission to the qualified electors of the City at a special
election to be held therein on the 17th day of May, 1977, of an initiative
proposit:ion amending Ordinance No. 1792 as ~nended by Ordinance No. 3210.
RESOLVED That the Kitsap County Auditor, as ex officio supervisor
of all elections held within Kitsap County is hereby requested to also find the
existence of such emergency and to assume jurisdiction of, and to call and
conduct said general election, to be held within the City at such special
election the :initiative proposition hereinafter set forth.
RESOLVED That the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed
to certify said initiative proposition to the Kitsap County Auditor in the
following form:

amended to restrict Residential-One
Districts to single family dwellings
and duplexes by initiative and to
restrict replatting and building or
alteration of any structure crossing

RESOLVED That the Council hereby finds and declares that in order
to assure adequate voter turnout and to reduce election expenses, the
initiative proposition set forth in this Resolution shall be submitted in
conjunction with other propositions to be submitted in a special election to
be held May 17, 1977.
RESOLVED That the County Auditor is hereby requested to place the
above ballot title on the ballot for the special election to be held on the
17th day of May, 1977 in place of the ballot title previously submitted.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Bremerton, signed by the
Mayor and attested by the Deputy City Clerk in authentication of such passage
this 14th day of April, 1977.
