RESOLUTION NO. 1700
RESOLUTION authorizing the filing of a
pre-application with the Department of
Housing and Urban Development, United
States of America, for a Non-Metro-
politan Discretionary Grant under the
Housing and Community Development Act
of 1974, Title I.
WHEREAS, the Secretary of Housing and Urban Develop-
ment is authorized to make grants for the acquisition, construc-
tion of facilities for recreational participation; special
projects directed to the removal of Architectural Barriers
regarding the Elderly and Handicapped; Public Utilities;
Street and Traffic Signal Improvements:
WHEREAS, it is required by the Department of Housing
and Urban Development, that the applicant guarantee succes-
sful and timely completion of the project to the satisfac-
tion of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
WHEREAS, it is required by the U.S. Department of
Housing and Urban Development in accord with the provisions
of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, that in connec-
tion with the filing of an application for assistance under
the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, the ap-
plicant give assurance that it will comply with Title VI
of the Civil Rights Act and the U.S. Department of Housing
and Urban Development requirements thereunder:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF BREMERTON, WASHINGTON
1. That the Mayor of Bremerton, Glenn K. Jarstad,
is authorized to execute and file a pre-application on be-
half of the City of Bremerton, with the U.S. Department of
Housing and Urban Development, to aid in the financing of
needed Community Development Projects.
2. That the Mayor, Glenn K. Jarstad, is author-
ized to execute and file with such application an assurance
or any other document required by the U.S. Department of

Housing and Urban Development effectuating the purposes of
Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, or for any other
requirements of the Housing and Community Development Act
of 1974.
3. That Glenn K. Jarstad, Mayor of the City of
Bremerton, is authorized to furnish such additional in-
formation as the Department of Housing and Urban Develop-
ment may require in connection with the application of the
project.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Bremerton,
signed by the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk in authen-
tication of such passage this 5th day of January, 1977.
