A RESOLUTION authorizing the filing of a
preapplication with the Department of
Housing and Urban Development, United
States of America, for a Single Purpose
Block Grant under the Small Cities Program
of the Housing and Community Development
Act of 1974, as amended, Title I, Subpart F.
WHEREAS, the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development is
authorized to make grants for the acquisition, construction, reconstruction
and rehabilitation to meet the needs and objectives of a Municipalities
Community Development Program which would substantially benefit low and
moderate-income families;
WHEREAS, it is required by the Department of Housing and Urban
Development, that the applicant guarantee successful and timely completion
of the project to the satisfaction of the Department of Housing and Urban
Development;
WHEREAS, it is required by the U.S. Department of Housing and
Urban Development in accord with the provisions of Title VI of the Civil
Rights Act of 1964, that in connection with the filing of an application
for assistance under the Housing and Conmmmity Development Act of 1974, the
applicant gives assurance that it will comply with Title VI of the Civil
Rights Act and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development require-
ments for citizen participation, and all other requirements thereunder;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSIONERS OF THE
CITY OF BREWERTON, WASHINGTON
1. That the Mayor of Bremerton, Glenn K. Jarstad, is authorized
to execute and file a pre-application on behalf of the City of Bremerton,
with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, to aid in the
financing of a Community Development Program to correct deficiencies
in public facilities which affect the public health and safety of the
citizens.
2. That the Mayor, Glenn K. Jarstad, is authorized to execute
and file with such application an assurance or any other document required
by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development effectuating the
purposes of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 , or for any other
requirements of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974.
3. That Robert D. Theroux, Grants Administrator, is authorized
to furnish such additional information as the Department of Housing and
Urban Development may require in connection with grant application for
the project.
