~ ordinance regulating the installation, arrang~:'men~, alt~ratio~, repair, use
and o~eration of electric wiring, connections, ligatures and other elec~ricai appliances
in or on buildings and other structures in the City of Bremerton, providing for a pay-
ment for license, and a penalty for the violation thereof, and r~pealing ~l Ordinan-
ces or parts of 0rdianoes in conflict ~herewith.

Sec. 1. ~ll electric wiring, apparatus and ligatures in buildings and
structures, within the provisions of ~his 0rdinanc~ in the City of Bremerton shall be
governed by, and conform ~o the rules and regulations of the i,~atio~m,l Board of ~irs
Underwriters as embodied in the National Electrical Code as amended and published in
1918, and as amended from time to tim~, and as on file in fha office of the City Clerk,~,
and ~l such electric wi~ing, aopara~us ~d fixtures shall be made to conform to the
requirements of this ordinance a~d of said rules and regulations before the same shall
be finally ap~rovsd and accepted by the Building Inspector, and it shall be s constru-,
ed tha~ all electrical apparatus shall, within the provisions of tSis Ordinance, be
such as are approved by the Underwrite}rs' Laboratories, Incorporated.
Sec, ~. That it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to 'claes
or install, or to cause or permit to be placed or installed, in any building, any
wiring, apparatus or fixt~ss for the use of electricity for heating, lighting or
power purposes, or to make, or cause or permit to be ~de, any alteration or chan~e in,
or addition to any wiring, apparatus or fixt~es for such use without first obtaining
from the Inspector of said City a written permit so to do, Such permit shall state
the kind of~'work ~o b~ done thereunder, and it shall be ~lawful for any person, firm
or corporation to do, or perform, or aauss or permit to be done or p~}rformed, any work
other than that des!gnased in such permit. Such permit shall also state the location
by street and n~mbsr of the buildin~ where such work is to be done, and shall be
valid only for the iaoation so stated.
Sec. S. It shall be unlawful for any ~erson, firm or corporation furnishing
electric curren~ for light, heat or power to connect, or to cause or p~-~rmit to be con-
nected, his or its distributing system with any installation of wiring, apparatus or
fixtures in any buitdin~ without havin~ first r~;~oeived written permission from
inspector to furnish current for such wiring, apparatus or fi3~tures.
Sec, 4. Upon making an inspection and acceptance of any elec~-~ical eouipm~,nt the
Inspector shall leave a notice at the service switch or o~her suitable elate, sta~ing
that the electrical work has bee~ in~.oected and aocepte~ by the inspector.
Sec. 5. It shall be unlawful for ~y person, firm or corporation to c.onc~al, or
to cause or permit ~ be concealed, any wiring i~or which a permit has been issued,
is r~{'~uir~d, before such wiring is~inspected and acoep~ed as reguired by ~his 0rdinance..
Sec. 6. It shall be ~lawful for any person, firm or corporation ~o make or to
cause or permit to be mad~, any al~er~ions or ohan~es in ~ addit~.ons to ~y wirins
which has b em inspect~{~ and approved, without first notifying the Ins~}e<~o~r in wri~inM
of such chana'es and additions.
Sec. 7. , ~¥hen any electric wiring, app~ratus or fixtures covered Oy amy permit
shall be reunion insg. ec~ion to conform to the rules and regula~lon provided by this
ordinance, the Inspector shall issue a certificate of inspection, certifying tha~ such
wiring, apparatus or fixtures have hee~ inspected, and found to comply with the terms
of this ordinance, but no such certificate shall be g~anted until such =.~u~pmen~ .... is
made to conform to the rules and regulations prescribed herein.
Sec. 8. This ordiaanc~ shall no~ ~e construed as relieving from or
the responsibility of a~y person ownS. rig, operating or ins~allin~ anyyelec~rioal wires,
appliances, apparatus, or equipment for damages to any b~ildin~, or to any person in-
jured by any defect therein; nor ~all the City, its officers, employees, or ~.my a~ent
thereof, be held liable ~o damager, s, or otherwise,by reason of the issu.~oe of any
permit or of the inspection authorized herein, or the certificate of iaspection issued
by the Inspector, or other-'ise.
Sec. 9. Every ~'irm, p~rson or corporation ~iolating any of the 8revisions of ~his~
0rainance shall be d~eme ~ui!~y of a misdemeanor, a~d upon conviction ~ ~reof shall
punished by a fine not exceeding 6,ne tiu~md ed {{100) Dollars, or im-}risonment ~r~
City Jail not exceeding thil'ty (~50) days, or by ~.3th such fine and imprisonment.
Sec. 10. The license fee shall be five {5~) cents per ou~te~ for ~h~ firs~ ~hirty
outlets; four (4~) cents per outlet for from thirty-one to one h~dred outlets; and one
{}~) cent per outlet thereufter, one dollar ~$1) for each me,or electric s~ove, or other
specially wired electrical appliance, with a minimum fee of one (~1) ~ollar and a
mazimmn fee of five (~5) dollars.

Sec, 1~. This ordinance shall be in full force and effec~ from fiv:~~ days alter
